NM MESA

New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering Science Achievement (NM MESA) Inc. is a non-profit organization that promotes educational enrichment for middle and high school students from historically under-represented ethnic groups. NM MESA, in partnership with schools and universities, prepares these pre-college students for college and careers in mathematics, engineering, science and related fields.
NM MESA is providing assistance with the recruitment of students, program coordination, fundraising, and year-round programming to the Hispanic Youth Symposium student alumni.

University of New Mexico

Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico (UNM) is a Hispanic-Serving Institution that represents a cross-section of cultures and backgrounds. In fall of 2006, 25,817 students attended main campus with another 6,530 students at branch campuses and education centers. UNM boasts an outstanding faculty that includes a Nobel Laureate, two MacArthur Fellows, 35 Fulbright scholars and several members of national academies. Offering more than 210 degree and certificate programs, UNM has 94 bachelor’s degrees, 74 master’s degrees and 40 doctoral programs. UNM was the only New Mexico university to be ranked among the top 25 colleges and universities for Latinos by Hispanic Magazine. The University is ranked first among law schools by Hispanic Business magazine. The School of Engineering is ranked fifth and the School of Medicine sixth. The University has branch campuses in Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia County. Home to the Lobos and part of the Mountain West conference, UNM athletics draw fans from all-over. The University Arena or “The Pit” was ranked 13th by Sports Illustrated as one of the top 20 sports venues of the century.
The University of New Mexico is underwriting the cost of the student dorm rooms and meeting space for the Hispanic Youth Symposium.
