The Dallas Hispanic Youth Symposium
Southern Methodist University | June 16-19, 2010

About the Program

About the Program

The Hispanic Youth Symposium returns to Dallas this summer! More than 200 local Hispanic high school students and 100 community volunteers will come together for a life-changing event that raises the college-going trajectories of Hispanic students in the community.

From June 16-19th, 2010, the participants of the 2nd Annual Dallas Hispanic Youth Symposium will convene in Southern Methodist University for a four-day, three-night program that allows them to develop a network of peers and mentors, learn about resources and tools for college, and develop a long-term career vision.

Competitions will be held for $2,000, $1,000, and $500 scholarships in art, speech and talent categories. The symposium only requires a $10 personal investment fee from the students; all other costs are covered. For more information, click here.

A Year-Round Program

Following the symposium, students will participate in a variety of activities including local business functions and college and career fairs. The Hispanic College Fund will also stay in electronic contact with the students, providing them ongoing information about scholarships, internships, and college application deadlines.

The Hispanic College Fund ensures that students who participate in the Hispanic Youth Symposium become part of a network that supports their educational and professional aspirations indefinitely.

Investing in the Community

Each symposium costs about $180,000 to run, and 92 cents from every dollar raised go to support direct costs (including student meals, lodging, classroom space, and supplies) and staff that make the symposium a success.

We rely on volunteers and the generosity of community donors, corporations, and foundations to support the program. Join us today and help make a difference in the lives of very talented and deserving students!
